We’re looking for Solutions Architect to join our growing Tech Team. As a Solutions Architect you will help us design and deliver a range of solutions in line with our customer’s business needs and build engaging experiences for our global clients supporting our long-term technology strategy.

Based in our Leeds or Manchester city centre office (hybrid working) both offices offer inspiring state of the art working environment and facilities, along with support and focused learning and development opportunities surrounded by experienced digital experts, you can build and excel within your career.  We can also consider candidates based UK wide for this role.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You will be the subject matter expert on the team, a specialist in strategic technical areas, leading and coaching the development team in software craftsmanship. You are responsible for designing the underlying solution architecture and overseeing development all the way to production. You are a voice in the development team supporting the business in providing an engineering perspective on our technical approach and strategy. You will be commercially minded ensuring that end solutions are effectively costed and profitable and a master of explaining complex technical recommendations to non-technical audiences.

 

You will promote technical best practices by example through your own work as well as mentoring and code reviews. You will help drive technical excellence across the team and demonstrate your passion about engineering principles, inspiring the team to strive for quality and continuous improvement.

 

You help your team find ways to achieve challenging goals without cutting corners. You are not afraid to tackle technical debt and find the right opportunities to do it while communicating the benefits to our clients and the rest of the team.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Ownership of application and code architecture
  • Deep, substantial expertise in a single technology platform (e.g., Optimizely) - seen within the company as the technical authority on the platform
  • Leading technical client workshops
  • Supporting with estimations
  • Responsible for mentoring developers within the team
  • Responsible for quality of finalised solution
  • Responsible for defining and documenting the physical architecture for the application to run on
  • Contributing as a developer across projects where necessary
  • Involved in reviewing and signing off technical and functional documentation for the client
  • Pre-sales solution design/quote generation
  • Invents new concepts and/or ways of working, pushes the whole organisation forward
  • Informed and knowledgeable about latest developments and trends in the platform
  • Fully capable of designing, owning, and running the technical implementation of a complex project with multiple integrations or challenges
  • Helps set and maintain professional standards for the entire organisation for the platform
  • Aware and able to articulate industry trends and new technologies internally, to clients and in marketing material

 

WHAT WE NEED

  • Extensive professional experience in the technical development arena at Architect (or similar) level
  • Experience in software engineering and design architecture
  • Demonstrable experience of the management and evolution of development teams and development architecture/solutions strategy
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues, and solutions
  • Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures
  • Have wide experience in various technology vendors, specifically around web ecosystems and digital touch points
  • Experience of operating in a fast-moving digital environment with an appreciation of the required urgency and responsiveness
  • Demonstrates a passion and curiosity for software and technology, and with a life-long learning attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, with a focus on leadership, self-organising, the ability to think strategically and an aptitude to solve complex problems
  • Expertly understands software architecture patterns, particularly around performance, reliability, and security
  • Broad understanding and knowledge on a wide range of technology's, in-depth knowledge of specialist areas
  • Persuasive and influential within the development team and wider departments
